This engineered application of flowable fill had initially required a density not greater than the weight of water per cubic foot, 62.5 lbs (+/-1). While this was entirely possible through the use of admixtures, the timing of the year, placement requirements, and most importantly, cost allowed for changes in the initial design requirements. The final flowable mix submitted and approved resulted in over 50% cost of material savings, which ultimately was passed on to the City of Providence. Utilizing a modified standard flowble mix design was the most important factor in maintaining the engineering integrity for all pool locations. |
